** This listing is for a course pack for a class I will teach for Sewing Expo fully online through Zoom. Come and join the fun! If you wish to participate in the course, you will need to purchase the class at https://sewingexpo.com/OnlineClasses/ClassDescriptions.aspx. The price you pay here is to purchase the supplies you will need for the course. Purchasing the course pack by itself will not provide you with access to the course. The course pack will be available for shipment three weeks before class.
The class will take place over zoom on March 20 from 11 - 3 EST.
You will have access to the recording for one year after the class.
This is a skill-building class. Our subject will be a lion, but the lessons will extend to other animals as well. During this session, we will focus on needle felting realistic animal eyes, hair and mane, and noses. These skills will increase your confidence to work on other animals. You will have the supplies to complete your lion, but you will not finish it in class.
Students will learn how to:
• utilize various types of wools and needles
• create life-like eyes with appropriate shape, shading, and fine details
• needle felt a lion’s nose with dimensionality
• needlefelt a mane, whickers, and chin hair, using varied wool types
• make unique colors by blending wool
• clean up edges
• work in fine details
• check one’s work and problem solve
• finish and finalize the project
Wool felt, batting, 5 felting needles, dissolvable fabric, a drawing of the project for tracing, a picture of the completed project for reference.
Required, but not included: a felting mat, a pen, a pair of scissors, and a lightbox (or use a window to trace the flower onto the dissolvable fabric in your kit).
A frame is not included.
Recommended, but not required: Needle felting tool holding multiple needles. If you are going to buy just one, I recommend the “pen” style. It holds three needles. The Clover tool that holds 5 needles is helpful as well.
